Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete
The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and were in communication with the league office.
The team omitted the name of Rice specifically in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice by name, posted a set of images on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.
Player's Prior Legal Issues
The receiver missed the initial part of this season due to an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left multiple people injured. Rice was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.
On the field, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
